Iris Apfel (August 27th, 1921) interiour designer / businesswoman, fashion collector) I never heard of this grande lady, until I saw the stunning photographs of a very stylishly aged women with enourmous glasses. (“More is more, less is a bore”) Incredibe documentary,by Albert Mayles, showing the life of Iris (and her love for her husband Carl) and her extraordinary archive of fashion and jewelry and anything she found and bought during her travels. And how devoted she was to her finetuned taste for design, art and style. That she has a warehouse stacked with things she has been collecting her whole life. Her quotes are poetic and the way she and her husband are portrayed, showing their heartwarming connection and love for eachother, made me cry a little bit! A scene where walks into the room, almost out of breath (at the age of 100 and looking fabulous), he say’s “Someone is taking my breath” ( or something like this, I can’t remember exactly) And Iris looks slightly concerned and tells Carl to sit down and that he has to catch his breath! (then notice the look on his face, like a young boy seeing a pretty girl)
